One of my job functions as a children's director is to facilitate a Wednesday night program for the little kids when I am doing CLUB 56 with the bigger ones. After a few failed at temps as different things, we came across CREATIVE PASTORS. It is the most fun. Every 8 weeks the theme changes. We have had a western round-up, a carnival, super hero fun, winter wonderland and now we have entered into the rain forest. The kids start by playing a game, singing, and learn the main lesson of the night. It is run by video. They see a skit with some crazy characters that make them laugh so hard. After 30minutes together, they go into small groups that are by age. This is the time that they get to spend with their peers going over the message in their terms. Small groups are key to this night being so awesome.
It is also very important to set a stage for the new theme. Nothing gets kids fired up like a room decorated. The children come in through the ruins and enter into the jungle. I just loved how this one turned out so I had to post it. We started last season with about 30 4yrs-4th graders, we now have around 80 every week. We have been all the way at 115 one week.
This is getting me inspired for VBS in a little over 1 month. Any takers on helping??? CALL ME!
